BEDFORD – Since 1988, the Bedford Golden Corral has honored veterans with a complimentary breakfast on July 4th.
In 1988, they dedicated a monument along with one of the largest flag displays in Lawrence County.
On Thursday morning, at 8:30 a.m., veterans, their families, and community members can attend a flag-raising ceremony to honor those who have or are serving. After the service, military veterans can enjoy a complimentary breakfast.
“This is one of my favorite things to do; this is a small sacrifice compared to our freedoms because these men and women are dedicating their lives to serve. They have sacrificed a lot, as well as their families, so we can enjoy what we have in the United States,” said Bedford Golden Corral Manager Ronnie Nubbie.
The event on July 4th will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Lawrence County Veterans Affairs Officer Bard Bough and Golden Corral Manager Ronnie Nubbie addressing the crowd.
Pastor Jason Filler of Bedford First Baptist Church will lead the opening prayer, followed by the flag raising and 21-gun salute by American Legion Gillian Post 33 Honor Guard members.
World War II Veteran James Lee Hutchinson will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the presentation of donations to Camp Corral.
