BLOOMINGTON – Jim Lewis of Old Post Gardens always aspired to be a farmer. He grew up on a farm, his friends were farmers, and his best friend has been an organic farmer since his teens. He heard about the Bloomington Farmers’ Market and was immediately impressed when he came to check it out at the Showers Commons at 401 North Morton Street from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Jim now loves coming every week and interacting with the Bloomington crowd. He grows all kinds of produce on 1.5 acres of his wife’s family land.
His most famous are strawberries, potatoes, tomatoes, and broccoli. Jim uses a hoop house for his starts, and his produce is all-natural, meaning he follows organic regulations but isn’t certified.
Music At The Market
This Saturday’s entertainment line-up features the JonyP Trio led by French-Canadian musician Jony Perron.
They’re not your typical Jazz trio. They incorporate a modern, groovy approach to old Jazz standards, spiced with Latin flavors and with mesmerizing solos.
They’ll begin a two-set performance at 9:00 a.m.
