Two teens arrested in Knox County, accused of stealing handgun from a vehicle

KNOX COUNTY- Two people are behind bars in Knox County for theft charges involving a gun.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Kalbaugh, 19, and Blake Navarro, 18.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said someone called dispatchers Thursday morning from Bicknell, saying someone broke into their vehicle. The caller said several items were stolen – including a handgun.

Around 2:30 Friday morning, deputies pulled over a car on State Road 67 near Bruce Road. They said Kalbaugh was driving, and Navarro was his passenger. Police said they found the stolen weapon during the stop.

The pair were arrested. Kalbaugh was charged with theft and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and Navarro was arrested for theft.

Police said they’ve had a report of one other vehicle theft and two attempted thefts over the past few days. Detectives are checking cell phone data to determine if the duo may have also been involved in those.
