Obituary: Floyd ‘JR’ Edwards

September 15, 1943 – July 22, 2024

JR Edwards, 80, of Bedford, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at his residence.

He was born September 15, 1943, in Clear Spring, Indiana, to Clyde Jack and Minnie (Brown) Edwards. He married Nancy Padgett, and she preceded him in death on December 14, 2021.

JR graduated from Clear Spring High School, class of 1962, and was a custodian at Jackson County Court House and a volunteer fireman for Kurtz Township Fire Dept. He was an avid coon hunter and member of the Norman Conservation Club, Medora Coon Club, and Fairview Community Church. JR loved bowling, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving to cherish JR’s memory are his children, Matthew (Toni) Crane and Shelby (Michael)
Everroad; five grandchildren, Bryant (Marley) Crane, Haylie Crane, Emma Crane, Ethan Crane
and Madison Everroad; great-grandchildren Audree Crane and August Crane; and one brother,
Hotdog Edwards.

Preceding JR in death were his parents, wife, Nancy; brothers, Robert “Bob” Edwards and Short Edwards; sisters Velma, Helen, and Rosemary; and three siblings in infancy, Pauline, Josephine, and Woodrow.

Funeral services for JR will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Bedford, with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 24th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., also at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
