William “Bill” Gene Hadley, 87, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born May 25, 1937, he was the son of William Rufus and Beryl (Mann) Hadley. He married Dolores Blanton on April 19, 1958, and she survives.
Bill was a hardworking man and started working at a young age. He had worked at Roberts Brass in Mitchell and later retired from both the Ford Motor Company and the Lehigh Cement Company. Bill was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mitchell. He loved horses, playing baseball and softball, woodworking, and being outdoors. Bill greatly enjoyed going to watch sprint car races at Bloomington Speedway and watching his favorite NASCAR drivers, Jeff Gordon and Kyle Larson. He was a strong family man who loved God and always put Him first.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Hadley of Mitchell; daughters, Terri (Roger) Lee of Mitchell, and Debbie (Brian) Pugh of Mitchell; grandchildren, Danny Gene Amstutz of Williams, Malissa Lynn (Darin) Galloway of French Lick, Dustin Abraham (Ashley) Amstutz of Mitchell, Chad (Kayla) Lee of Mitchell, Cari (Nate) Edmonson of Orleans, Whitnie (Joel) Davis of London, Ontario, Tyler (Jess) Gassman of Denver, Colorado, Hanna Pugh of Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Tevin (Haley) Amstutz, Cody (Ashleigh) Amstutz, Mariah (Trey) Heckard, Chase Heckard, Briella Amstutz, and Braylynn Amstutz, and Forrest Gassman; great-great grandchildren, Eliana Amstutz, Eddy Koch, Easton Koch, Chase Flynn, Trevin Lee, Charity Flynn, Taylor Lee, Ryder Burgan, Steven Flynn and Bryn Livingston, and soon to be baby E; siblings, Teresa Thayer of Mitchell, and Rita Nash of Mitchell.
His parents preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, at the First Baptist Church of Mitchell, with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Monday at the church.
