GREENE CO. – Greene County residents might be seeing higher water bills soon.
Eastern Heights Utilities has proposed a rate increase for its customers.
Eastern Heights Utilities provides water utility services in Greene County and portions of surrounding counties. The not-for-profit utility serves approximately 7,000 residential customers.
Homeowners and business owners could see at least $15 more monthly on their bills.
Eastern Heights has proposed a rate increase to help keep up with operating costs.
Eastern Heights Utilities is seeking a rate increase under Cause No. 46084-U. The utility is seeking the increase through the state’s Small Utility Filing Procedure, which aims to reduce rate case expenses while not reducing the standard of review by the OUCC and IURC. The OUCC is scheduled to file a report with recommendations on September 18.
The utility’s previous rates were approved in April 2021 under Cause No. 45435-U.

The IURC has scheduled a public field hearing for September 5, at 6 p.m., in the Bloomfield Middle & High School Cafeteria.

The OUCC needs to receive all written consumer comments no later than Aug. 28, 2024, to consider them in preparing its testimony and file them with the Commission to be included in the case’s formal evidentiary record. Comments should include the consumer’s name, city, and zip code and a reference to either “IURC Cause No. 46084-U” or Eastern Heights Water.
