SALEM – At approximately 8:48 a.m. on Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center received a report of an airplane that traveled off the east end of the runway at the Salem Municipal Airport and ended up in a soybean field.
Police, fire, and emergency service personnel responded.
According to Sheriff Brent Miller, the pilot and two passengers traveled from Pennsylvania to Salem. The pilot was attempting to land when the plane traveled off the east end of the runway.
Nobody was injured.
Salem Police Chief Eric Mills is working with the FAA to investigate the incident.
