MITCHELL – Mitchell Police officers responded to a report of a domestic fight that turned physical in the 400 block of North Meridian Street on Saturday, August 17.
When Officer Izabelle Foster arrived, 44-year-old Edward Haste came to the door “extremely irate and cursing and calling officers names.” He refused to exit the home.
Haste’s mother and father exited the home. The male said Haste had attacked him, pulled his hair, choked him, and threatened to take his cell phone so he couldn’t call the police. Haste also broke a wooden chair and then used the legs of the chair to hold him down. He then threatened to shove the leg through his neck. Haste then broke his phone, his mother’s phone, and smashed his watch after ripping it off his wrist.
Haste continued to be aggressive and was detained.
Haste kept changing his story about what happened. He admitted his actions and then denied them. Haste pleaded the Fifth Amendment and refused to answer questions.
Haste’s father had visible red marks on his throat. Scratches and blood on his face were also visible.
Haste was arrested on charges of domestic battery causing injury and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
