NASHVILLE– The Brown County Music Center in Nashville, Ind., celebrates five years since opening its doors on August 24, 2019, featuring country music legend Vince Gill as its first headliner. Nestled on the banks of Salt Creek and located less than one mile from the largest state park in Indiana and the Town of Nashville, the Brown County Music Center is a visual and auditory masterpiece. The 2,000-seat live performance venue came through the challenges and changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic while still in its first year, ultimately becoming a mainstay central Indiana live music destination hosting artists spanning world-class rock, blues, country, pop, jazz, oldies, throwback artists, and more, while offering an incredibly intimate experience for each show with the farthest seat from the stage only 106 feet away.
Following Gill as its first headliner, the venue has featured a range of legendary artists, including Art Garfunkel, Clint Black, Sara Evans, The Beach Boys, America, Melissa Etheridge, Kenny G, LeAnn Rimes, Gordon Lightfoot, Emmylou Harris, The Oak Ridge Boys, Jeff Beck, Tower of Power, Air Supply, The Marshall Tucker Band, Ben Folds, Michael W. Smith, Chicago, Trace Adkins, Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Christopher Cross, Patti LaBelle, Weird Al Yankovic, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Jason Isbell and many more.
Additionally, in 2024, the venue announced a gift of $267,000 to invest generously in the Brown County Community. Because of the forward-thinking management agreements the venue and county leaders chose to implement, the Brown County Government and the Brown County Community Foundation (BCCF) each receive a portion of the excess revenue generated from ticket sales, food and beverage sales, and parking lot revenue from the Music Center. As part of the agreement, when BCCF receives funds, they are split between funds supporting arts and culture and the greatest community needs. A portion of these funds are invested into a long-term endowment so that the income from that endowment generates grant money each year. The remaining Music Center funds will be given out through grants. 2024 marked the venue’s inaugural year to disperse these funds into the community.
“Hitting this 5th anniversary is a stellar accomplishment for the staff, community, and patrons alike for the Music Center,” said Brown County Music Center Executive Director Christian Webb. “There were times in the doldrums of the COVID shutdown that thoughts of hitting this anniversary were bleak. Navigating through that daunting challenge has ultimately allowed us to be fearless in chasing success for our venue’s name and reputation and our own growth and development. Delivering this special date has been rewarding for our community. We are energized for the future and can’t wait to see what the next five years brings to the Music Center.”
