BLOOMINGTON – Join officials for the third annual Paint Bloomington event on Saturday, October 5, at the Woodlawn Pavilion in Bryan Park, next to the swimming pool.
The event will be held rain or shine.
Hosted by the Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington, Bloomington Watercolor Society, Upland Plein Air Painters, Portrait Group, Bloomington Arts Commission, and Psi Iota Xi, this event is open to professional and emerging artists of all ages and skill levels to create original artwork of any subject in any medium.
Artists must check in at the Pavilion between 9:30 a.m. and noon on the event day. There is no fee, but registration is required to be eligible for judging.
All artists will have canvasses or multi-media paper stamped before beginning their work. Supplies will be available for classes at the Pavilion and painting on the Bryan Park grounds. Artists can paint anywhere in Bloomington; all stamped work will be eligible for judging.
There will be awards for Professional Artists, Emerging Artists, Youth (7-11), and Teens (12-17). Artwork will be displayed from 3 p.m. until 4:00, and the award ceremony will be at 4:00 p.m.
Classes and Demonstrations will be at the Pavilion from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Limited supplies will be available for painting in the park, but officials encourage all artists to bring their own. Throughout the day, there will be a variety of demonstrations and opportunities to paint with fellow artists. Officials will have a portrait model on site.
Music and Storytelling will also take place at the Pavilion.
