Late-arriving South takes off to bounce BNL

BNL’s Noah Childers and the Stars suffered an 8-1 loss to Bloomington South on Tuesday.

BEDFORD – Bloomington South got a last start but a fast finish while pouncing on Bedford North Lawrence 8-1 during boys high school soccer action on Tuesday.

The match was moved back because of the heat advisory, and South’s bus broke down en route. But once they arrived, the Panthers (3-1) were too tough for the Stars.

“They threw a bunch of guys up and overwhelmed our defense,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “Several teams we play this year have this strategy, so we now have some experience against it. The kids played hard the whole game and didn’t give up, which I was glad to see.

“Give South credit, they are a very good team. Great passing and first touch, they played some amazing through balls.”

Adriano Sullivan scored the lone goal for the Stars in the first half.

BNL (2-2) will visit Barr-Reeve on Saturday.
