Police find meth in vehicle, Bedford man arrested

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant on drug charges after an investigation on July 7, 2024.

Bedford Police Officer Taylor Daugherty requested a warrant for the arrest of 40-year-old Jeffery Staggs on a charge of possession of meth.

On Sunday, July 7, at 10:50 p.m., Officer Daughtery was on patrol when she spotted a 2012 black Mitsubishi Galant traveling east on 5th Street near X Street.

Police discovered a crystal-like substance inside a yellow zip-up pouch on the passenger floorboard after the female driver gave police consent to search the car. Staggs was a passenger in the vehicle.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Staggs’s arrest.
