Ribbon cutting celebrates Nashville IU Health Primary Care offices move

NASHVILLE- On Tuesday, Aug. 27, a large group—including members of the Brown County YMCA, IU Health team members, and individuals from the community—gathered for a ribbon cutting at the new IU Health office at the Sue Borgelt Medical Center (100 Maple Leaf Blvd, Nashville, IN).

Alongside the Borgelt family, whose gift in memory of Sue made this facility possible, participants marked the occasion by recounting how this facility came to be and what it will mean for the community for generations to come.

Brian Shockney, IU Health System Regional Operations Senior Vice President, said:

“We at IU Health are humbled, incredibly grateful, and just cannot say enough about the partnership with Burt Borgelt and his family. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the wisdom and insight of Burt, the Brown County YMCA board, IU Health Foundation, IU Health Leadership, and so many others who made this a reality. This facility is a demonstration of how community makes things happen. Here is where we make Hoosiers healthier and fulfill the vision of Indiana being a healthier state.”

Brechin Newby, MD, MBA, IU Health South Central Region Chief Physician Executive, said:

“This collaboration between IU Health, the Brown County YMCA, the IU Health Foundation, and the Borgelt family shows the power of relationships, community, and a shared vision. We are all so grateful for the generosity of Sue Borgelt’s loved ones and their commitment to the community she loved. I would also like to extend a thanks to the Brown County community as a whole for trusting and partnering with IU Health to support your healthcare needs. It is our privilege and honor to care for you.”

Kim Robinson, Chief Executive Officer at Brown County Community YMCA, said:

“The gift that Burt has given to the community is amazing, and I’m honored and privileged to have worked side by side with him. We have many great things in this community, and I’m excited to continue working for the community as a whole and increase our healthcare.”

Burt Borgelt said,

“My family and I are pleased to have been able to support the YMCA, IU Health, and the IU Health Foundation as they have collaborated to make this beautiful Sue Borgelt Medical Center possible. My wife, Sue, loved it here in Brown County, and as I look at this handsome building, I know that she would be proud to have it named for her. The beauty of this medical center lies in what it will do for the community. For this foreseeable future, IU Health, instead of paying rent to financial institutions, will be paying rent to the Brown County YMCA, keeping millions of dollars in Brown County, and we all know that in the hands of the Brown County YMCA, the entire community will benefit.”

Crystal Miller, IU Health Foundation President, said:

“We’re standing here today because Burt Borgelt wanted the Brown County community to have access to the very best health care. This aligns perfectly with the mission of IU Health and IU Health Foundation – to ensure patients have access to cutting-edge care and medical services without having to travel out of state or whenever possible, without having to leave your own communities.”

The new facility is home to IU Health Primary Care and Walk-in services, as well as onsite Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services every Monday and traveling specialists, including orthopedics providers.
