Velma Ruth Higginbotham, 78, of Bedford, passed away at 2:21 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at her residence.
Born November 7, 1945, in Crofton, KY, she was the daughter of James and Arminta (Blackburn) Hendricks. She had been a self-employed janitorial worker. She was raised in the Pentecostal church and was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, cooking for them, and spoiling the grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, James Foster and wife Shantel and Danny Foster and wife Jessica; grandchildren Sean, Tabitha, Mary, David, Shamar, and James Foster, Ricky Thomas, and Monique Carpinteria; a brother, Robert Hendricks; a sister, Mary Alderson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Shirley Flynn.
Cremation was chosen. No visitation is scheduled.
