Phyllis Ruth (Hardman) Ridge, 85, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at her residence. She was born August 2, 1939, in Leipsic, to Forest and Gayle (Stephenson) Hardman. She married James “Jim” Ridge on July 7, 1972, and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1979.
Phyllis graduated from Orleans High School in 1957 and retired from General Electric. She attended Athey Creek Christian Fellowship. Phyllis enjoyed playing games, especially bingo, and watching Gameshow Network. She was a great cook, loved music, and was a Colts fan.
Survivors include her children, Sherry Lynn Chastain Neeley of Mitchell, Terry Ann (David) Chastain Whitinger of Indianapolis, and Bryan Lee Ridge of Williams; grandchildren, Jason Bennett, Kyle Bennett, Ethan Ridge, Hadley Soloman, Colton Ridge, Chloe Anderson, and Chance Rayhill; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Marvin (Lanora) Hardman of Orleans.
Her parents, husband, son, Michael Dean Chastain, and brother, Jerry Hardman, preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center, with Brother Jerry Eads officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
