The Buddy Walk in Bloomington unites the community for a common cause

BLOOMINGTON- The Buddy Walk in Bloomington, Indiana, is an annual event that promotes awareness and inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome. Organized by the Down Syndrome Family Connection, it brings together families, friends, and community members to celebrate diversity and raise funds for advocacy and support programs. The walk is a joyful celebration featuring activities, entertainment, and opportunities to connect with others who share similar experiences.

The Buddy Walk® in Bloomington is Down Syndrome Family Connection’s biggest event of the year. Much more than a fundraiser walk, this event is fun and family-friendly, featuring carnival games, karaoke, food trucks, and other entertainment. All people with disabilities are celebrated and honored as MVPs for the day, and the event is highly anticipated each year as the largest gathering for the local disability community. Many community members also come for the fun and to support DSFC and their constituents. Attendees include people of all ages and abilities from Monroe County and several other surrounding counties. The event is free, with the option to purchase an event t-shirt. 

The Buddy Walk will take place at Switchyard Park,1601 S. Rogers St., on Sunday, September 29. Registration and shirt pick-up will begin at 1:00 p.m., and the race will start at 3:00 p.m.
