Although some local exceptions may exist, a burn ban means open burning is prohibited, including burning vegetation, brush, non-contained wood or timber, and building construction material.

Campfires and recreational fires are allowed if contained in a burn ring or fire pit. Gas and charcoal grills are permitted. If using charcoal, it must be fully extinguished when finished.

The Indiana Drought Monitor reports that most of Southern Indiana is in a moderate drought. Posey, Vanderburgh, and Warrick County portions are in a severe drought.

The latest forecast shows only a 20% chance of rain Sunday night and Monday.
