Bedford man arrested on multiple drug charges following traffic stop

BEDFORD — A local man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, September 18, after police discovered multiple illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop.

According to the Bedford Police Department, officers initiated a stop on a silver Chrysler Sebring at approximately 12:15 a.m. due to a defective muffler and failure to properly stop at a stop sign. The driver Darin S. Rollman, 49, was reportedly argumentative with officers during the encounter.

Upon officers requesting consent to search the vehicle, Rollman agreed. Canine Zazu alerted authorities to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search uncovered a metal spoon with white residue, a black backpack containing 13 hypodermic syringes, and an unopened pack of ten additional syringes in the trunk. Officers also found a bindle containing a powdery substance that later tested positive for fentanyl, along with several items that tested positive for meth.

Rollman admitted to purchasing the heroin found in the vehicle in Indianapolis and claimed that all the items discovered belonged to him. His passenger, Everette Hallatt, was released at the scene with the vehicle.

Rollman was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where he faces charges of possession of a narcotic drug, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a syringe.

Those arrested are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges are simply accusations, and the legal process will decide the outcome based on the evidence presented.

All evidence has been documented and placed into evidence lockup. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to address drug-related offenses in the area.
