Bloomington Police investigate shots fired near East Third Street

BLOOMINGTON — Authorities are investigating after reports of multiple gunshots that occurred on the city’s east side Wednesday night.

Officers were dispatched to the area near East Third Street and State Road 446 around 7:20 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire.

Witnesses told police that a light-colored sedan was seen slowly leaving the scene near the entrance of the Granite Central Apartments before speeding off west on Third Street. Following the gunshots, one individual walking on the sidewalk fell to the ground but quickly stood back up and walked away from the area.

Despite thorough searches, officers could not locate the individual or any signs of injury. However, they did recover several empty shell casings near the entrance of the apartment complex.
