BEDFORD– The Lawrence County Republican Central Committee is set to convene a caucus on Thursday, October 10, to appoint a replacement for the vacated District 3 seat on the Mitchell City Council. The vacancy arose following the resignation of Councilman Danny Terrell, who accepted another position within the city that conflicted with his council duties.
Party Chairman Heath Hawkins will oversee the caucus, which will be held at the Mitchell Community Building, located at 101 Tom Green Drive, starting at 4 p.m.
Republican candidates in good standing who reside within Mitchell District 3 are invited to file their Indiana form CEB-5 by Monday, October 7, with the Lawrence County Clerk at the Voter Registration Office, situated in the Courthouse Plaza at 918 16th St, Suite 200, in Bedford.
All Lawrence County Precinct Committee Members representing the city of Mitchell are eligible to participate in the caucus and are strongly encouraged to vote. If a precinct committee member is unable to attend, the Vice Precinct Committee Member for their designated precinct can cast their vote in their place.
This caucus provides an important opportunity for local Republicans to ensure continued representation for the citizens of Mitchell as they move forward following Councilman Terrell’s departure.
