On Track: I-69 Finish Line Project Update

INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, September 30, the western half of the I-465/Harding Street interchange was closed. The ramp reconstruction will take up to 60 days to complete. This work includes the eastbound I-465 exit ramp to Harding Street and the Harding Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465.

  • Expect a single right lane closure on westbound I-465 between I-65 and Harding Street from Monday, September 30, through Thursday, October 3, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge work and beam deliveries.
  • Flagging operations for underground traffic signal work will take place on Mann Road near I-465 from Tuesday, October 1, through Friday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Carson Avenue over I-465 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, October 4, through 5 a.m. Monday, October 7. Concrete blocks will be placed at each end of the bridge so crews can continue bridge work.
  • Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, October 4, through 5 a.m. Monday, October 7, I-465 westbound and eastbound between I-65 and I-70 will be reduced to a single lane, 11-foot right lane, for milling, paving, concrete patching, bridgework, and lane-shift operations. Ramps between I-65 and I-70 will also be closed to traffic during the double-lane closure. A map of all ramp closures is below, or click here for an enlarged map. Be aware that construction traffic may be entering and exiting the construction site. Travel delays are expected. Drivers should buckle up, put their phones down, and travel the posted speed limit through the work zone.

Reminders:

  • Entrance and exit ramps on the east side of Harding Street at I-465 are NOW OPEN.
  • The westbound I-465 exit ramp to Mann Road (Exit 7) is NOW OPEN. 
  • The southbound US 31/East Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465 will remain closed into late 2024.

Reminders:

  • On the evenings of Thursday, October 3, and Tuesday, October 8, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., temporary lane closures will be in place on I-69 northbound and southbound, between Banta Road to Fairview Road, for installation of temporary pavement markings.  
  • The speed limit along I-69 between SR 144 and Fairview Road is now 55 mph in Johnson County.
    • In Johnson and Marion counties, speed limits are still reduced throughout most of the I-69 Finish Line corridor. Please follow all posted speed limits as construction continues through the remainder of 2024.
