Oolitic man ends up in jail after police respond to a domestic alercation at a local bar

BEDFORD – A man was arrested on domestic battery and criminal mischief charges after Bedford Police officers responded to a local bar late Friday night, night, according to a police report.

Joshua C. Condrey, 35, of Oolitic, was taken into custody on September 27 after police were called to Shorty’s Den at 1300 7th Street around 10:32 p.m. in response to reports of a physical domestic altercation.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Nicholas Crulo, the incident began when Condrey and his girlfriend got into an argument while drinking at the bar. The woman who possessed Condrey’s keys refused to return them due to his apparent impairment.

Surveillance footage provided by the bar owner allegedly showed Condrey kicking the driver’s side doors of the woman’s vehicle, causing significant damage. The video then captured Condrey slapping the woman in the face, which reportedly knocked off her hat.

Upon arrival, officers said Condrey was argumentative, and they immediately detained him. According to the report, he was read his Miranda rights but refused to acknowledge them. Condrey was subsequently transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where he continued to be aggressive and confrontational with officers.

The woman expressed her desire to press charges due to the extensive damage done to her vehicle.

The affidavit notes that Condrey was out on bond for a previous domestic battery charge at the time of this incident.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
