WASHINGTON — A 54-year-old man was arrested Friday after police discovered the body of his 91-year-old mother, Phyllis Lane, in a residence on Center Street. Authorities had received a tip about an elderly female who was deceased and had not been reported.
Officers arrived at the 700 block of Center Street, where they met Marcus Lane. Following their discussion with him, they proceeded to a nearby residence on the 800 block of Center Street, where they found Phyllis Lane deceased.
According to police, the condition of the body indicated that she had been dead for some time. An autopsy was subsequently performed, confirming that her death was due to natural causes.
Marcus Lane was charged with failure to report the discovery or handling of human remains.
