Man arrested after 911 call reporting imparied driver in Orange County

ORANGE CO. — A 39-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening, October 5th, after a 911 call alerted authorities to a possible intoxicated driver on State Road 145. The driver, identified as Cody S. Bauer of Tell City, was reportedly traveling with three small children in the vehicle.

Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy responded to the call from County Dispatch and located Bauer at a gas station in French Lick with assistance from the West Baden Police Department. Upon arrival, Trooper Denk-Mundy noted visible signs of impairment in Bauer.

Bauer was subsequently transported to IU Health Hospital in Paoli for medical clearance and to undergo a chemical test. Bauer was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail after the assessment.

Bauer was arrested on Level 6 felony charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, OWI with a passenger less than 18 years of age, neglect of a dependent, and driving while his driver’s license was suspended, a Class A misdemeanor.

The three children were safely picked up by their mother at the scene.

Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy was the arresting officer, and the West Baden Police Department assisted in the incident.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
