Bluejackets to open sectional play with rematch against Brown County

MITCHELL – Mitchell‘s opponent for the first round of sectional play was revealed on Sunday evening during the IHSAA’s annual draw show.

This year, they will face Brown County (4-4) to kick off the postseason, a team that the Bluejackets squared off against earlier this season.

In that matchup, the Eagles were the victor after a close game, winning by a score of 21-12.

Other teams in the group are Greencastle (2-6) , Pike Central (3-5), North Posey (6-2), South Vermillion (8-0), Sullivan (3-5) and Linton-Stockton (6-2).

Since the 1994 season, Mitchell has won only nine postseason games. Their deepest run in the tournament during that time came in the 2016-17 season, where the team advanced to the Sectional 39 championship game before losing to Monrovia.

The Bluejackets last won a sectional championship in 1983.
