BLOOMINGTON—The Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market, located at 401 N. Morton St. in Bloomington, hosts dozens of local farmers and prepared food vendors every Saturday and welcomes two special events on Oct. 19.
The fourth annual “Harvest for the World,” a celebration of the rich diversity of sight, sound, and taste at the Farmers’ Market, takes place in conjunction with the Market from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. According to Farmers’ Market Coordinator Clarence Boone, a number of vendors and entertainers will represent foods, cross-cultural fashions, dance, and music from Asian, Colombian, Filipino, Hawaiian, Asian Indian, Italian, Mexican, Turkish, and Venezuelan communities.
Other communities that are scheduled to participate in Harvest for the World will represent African, Costa Rican, First Nations, and Spanish communities.
Blooming Neighborhoods, an annual celebration presented by the City of Bloomington Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) and the Council of Neighborhood Associations takes place in front of City Hall, 401 N. Morton St., from 10 until 11:30 a.m. The festivities move inside City Hall from 11:30 a.m. until noon, when representatives of Bloomington’s neighborhood associations share their neighborhood highlights in the Council Chambers.
Jumble Firewood is the sponsor of the Blooming Neighborhoods event.
