Bloomington Police Department warns of phone scam

BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam targeting local residents. Numerous reports have been received of individuals receiving calls from someone claiming to be “William Parker” with the police department. The caller states that the individual has a warrant out for their arrest and demands payment of $3000.

The Bloomington Police Department would like to reiterate that they will never contact anyone via telephone demanding money. If you receive a call of this nature, it is a scam.

It has also been reported that scammers are spoofing the police department’s phone number, (812)-339-4477. If you receive any phone calls from someone claiming to be from the Bloomington Police Department that seem fraudulent, please hang up and call the department to verify.
