BEDFORD — A three-year-old child was attacked by a monkey at a Walmart store in Bedford on Wednesday afternoon.
Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore confirmed the incident, stating that a six-teen-year-old Java Macaque pet monkey scratched the child. The child’s parents declined medical treatment at the scene.
Fox59 reported that a woman claiming to be the child’s mother said the monkey’s owner presented paperwork designating the animal as an “emotional support animal.” However, she alleged that the paperwork was actually registered to a dog. The monkey was reportedly wearing a diaper and had a leash attached to its waist.
It is unclear if this incident is under investigation by Bedford police.
