Indiana State Police investigate a barricade situation in Williamsport

WARREN CO. – On Saturday, shortly after 6:00 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a firearm at a residence on Gregory Street in Williamsport, Indiana.

A preliminary investigation conducted by detectives from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post revealed that, upon arrival, officers learned the suspect was inside the residence with a firearm and that shots had been fired from within. Officers also received information indicating that other occupants were inside the house. A Hostage Crisis Negotiator from the Indiana State Police established phone contact with an occupant inside the residence.

While communicating with those inside, officers set up a perimeter around the property and requested support from the Tippecanoe County and Indiana State Police SWAT teams. Officers were able to enter the residence and locate the suspect safely. The suspect was then transported to a local hospital in Williamsport.

At the conclusion of this investigation, the case will be turned over to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office for a charge determination.

No one was injured during this incident.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. There is no further information to release at this time.
