Obituary: Louella ‘Sue’ Hammersley

September 14, 1939 – October 28, 2024

Louella ‘Sue’ Hammersley, born September 14, 1939, died on October 28, 2024.

She married Larry on December 29, 1962. Sue was employed as a computer aide at Springville Grade School and earlier worked at Bedford National Bank and, for a short while, at Crane. She was a member of the DAR and the Oolitic Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and Sat Hardwick; a sister, Nellie Wade; brothers Clifford, Bill, Roe, Bob, and Tyra Hardwick; half-brother Dan Wagoner; half-sister Annis Skinner; daughter Tisha L. Hammersley; and grandson Ryatt Jace Lewis.

She is survived by two sisters, Brenda Terrell, and Mildred North; two sons, Eric and Jennifer; a daughter, Lisa, and Rhett Lewis; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Tipton Hammersley; and one of the grandsons, Townes Ricketts, both of whom helped Eric care for Sue during her terminal illness. Sue’s husband, Larry (Vernon Lawrence) Hammersley, eight grandchildren, and nieces and nephews are also survived.

Funeral services will be on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home.
