DNR set to stock 157 locations with Channel Catfish this fall

FARMERSBURG — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is set to enhance fishing opportunities across the state by stocking 157 locations with approximately 51,000 channel catfish this fall.

In an announcement on Friday, the DNR confirmed that the catfish will be released into publicly accessible waters, ensuring local anglers can take advantage of the new fishing prospects.

The fish, which range in size from eight to ten inches, will be sourced from the Cikana Fish Hatchery in Morgan County, the Driftwood Fish Hatchery in Jackson County, and the East Fork Fish Hatchery in Daviess County, all managed by state biologists.

The DNR anticipates that all locations will receive new fish residents by early November; however, the exact quantities may vary based on production conditions.

Anglers should be aware of the bag and size restrictions in place. These typically allow for a catch of up to 10 channel catfish per day, with a limit of one fish exceeding two feet and four inches in length. The Fishing Guide, available on the DNR website, details specific lakes with different bag limits.
