Obituary: Jerry Allen Haper

December 7, 1941 – November 3, 2024

Jerry Allen Haper, 82, passed away on November 3, 2024, at his home in Seymour.

He was born on December 7, 1941, to the late Mary Runge Haper and Carl Haper. On July 11, 1970, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, he married Kathryn Sprunger, and she survives. Jerry was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, was confirmed there in Christ in 1955, and held many offices in the church over the years. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1959. Jerry loved Jesus, his church, and his family.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathyrn Haper; children, Lori Haper Arnett and Timothy (Charina) Haper; grandchildren, Melissa (Adam) Huber, Ryan (Celia) Arnett, Mildred Haper, Emmaline Haper, and Jeffrey Haper; great-grandchildren, Anna Huber, Brinley Arnett, and Rowan Arnett; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his parents; sister, Henrietta Haper; and son-in-law, David Arnett.

Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 504 North Walnut St., Seymour, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Andrew J. Currao and Rev. Zachary R. Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 North Chestnut Street, Seymour, and on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

The family requests memorial donations in Jerry’s memory to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund and Schneck Hospice.
