ISP investigating inmate death at Madison County Jail

MADISON CO. – On November 9th at approximately 10:00 p.m., correctional staff at the Madison County Jail discovered an inmate unresponsive in his cell. 

The inmate, identified as Jacob S. Lyttle, was immediately checked by jail staff, who began administering medical aid until the Anderson Fire Department arrived.  Despite their efforts, Lyttle was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

Lyttle was alone in his cell at the time of discovery and was held at the Madison County Jail on unrelated charges. 

The cause of death is currently under investigation.  At this time, there is no evidence of foul play.  

The Indiana State Police leads the investigation with the Madison County Coroner’s Office. 

An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death.  No further details are available to be released.
