INDIANAPOLIS – Drivers planning to travel on I-465 eastbound this weekend should be prepared for lane restrictions and ramp closures as part of ongoing construction efforts.
Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, a single travel lane will be open on I-465 eastbound between the I-70 and I-69 interchanges. This restriction is necessary to safely shift traffic onto newly paved lanes and finalize the permanent travel configuration in the area.
In addition to the lane closure on I-465 eastbound, several ramps will be closed during the same period, including:
- The I-70 eastbound ramp to I-465 southbound
- The Kentucky Avenue ramp to I-465 eastbound
- The Mann Road ramp to I-465 eastbound
Motorists are encouraged to plan and seek alternative routes, as these closures could cause significant delays, especially during peak travel times.
Along with the lane and ramp closures on I-465, drivers should also expect changes to traffic patterns on Harding Street under and near the overpass. Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, new lane configurations will be implemented on Harding Street, where there will be one through lane and one left-turn lane in both directions (northbound and southbound). This traffic pattern will remain in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) advises drivers to slow down, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time during the weekend work period. Motorists should also be aware of construction zones and anticipate possible delays in these areas.
The closures and lane shifts are part of ongoing improvements to I-465 as part of the larger highway upgrade project aimed at improving safety and traffic flow in the region.
For real-time updates on road conditions and construction, drivers are encouraged to visit the INDOT website or use travel apps for navigation assistance.
