2024 Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services Christmas Home Tour Set for December 8

BEDFORD – The 2024 Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services (LCCPS) Christmas Home Tour will occur on Sunday, December 8, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A beloved holiday tradition dating back to the early 1980s, the tour offers a festive way for the community to support local cancer patients while enjoying beautifully decorated homes.

This year, the event has been rescheduled from its usual first Sunday of December to December 8, allowing attendees to enjoy the tour without the rush of the Thanksgiving holiday. Despite the date change, the tour will follow its familiar format, which has become a favorite part of the season.

Six local families have generously opened their homes to help raise funds for cancer patients in Lawrence County. Four of the homes are in the Bedford area, with two in the Mitchell area. The homes are decorated in unique holiday styles, giving visitors various looks and ideas for their holiday decor. Tour-goers can visit the homes in any order between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for the tour are $20 per person and can be purchased ahead of time at Twelve Months of Christmas and Copy Trolley in Bedford and at the Lawrence County Tourism Office in Mitchell. Additionally, tickets will be available at the Downtown Depot, located at 1401 J Street in Bedford, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Depot will also feature refreshments and door prize sign-ups.

With the homes spread across the county, organizers encourage car-pooling, as parking may be limited at some locations. “This year, the homes are a bit farther apart than usual, so plan accordingly to make sure you have enough time to see them all,” said Teena Ligman, a longtime volunteer helping with the tour for nearly 40 years.

Among the highlights of this year’s tour are two stunning log cabins in the Mitchell area, sure to be a highlight of the drive. The Bedford homes range in style from traditional to modern, with each offering something unique. “The interiors of the homes are as varied as their exteriors,” Ligman said. “You’ll come away with new decorating ideas and be inspired to try something new. Even if you’re not in the Christmas spirit when you start, you’ll leave humming Christmas music!”

All proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to support cancer patients in Lawrence County through LCCPS. For more information about the event or tickets, contact Debi Deer at 812-583-6246 or Cassie Root at 812-278-4383.
