Indiana State Police Lafayette District welcomes new CSI

LAFAYETTE—The Indiana State Police Lafayette District is proud to announce that it has hired Kiran Kaur as the district’s first non-sworn Crime Scene Investigator (CSI). Originally from India, Kiran moved to the United States in 2014 and graduated from Carmel High School. With a strong educational background and practical experience, Kiran is set to enhance the Lafayette District’s forensic capabilities.

Kiran earned her bachelor’s degree in Forensic and Investigative Sciences from IUPUI in 2022. Following graduation, she began her career with the Indiana State Police as an Account Clerk in the Fiscal Department in June 2022. Her dedication to law enforcement and forensic science soon led her to the role of Evidence Specialist at the Indiana State Police Indianapolis Regional Laboratory in January 2024, where she gained valuable expertise in handling and processing evidence.

After a comprehensive interview and hiring process, Kiran was selected for the CSI position, demonstrating her exceptional qualifications, dedication, and readiness for this critical role. She officially joined the Lafayette District in July and completed specialized training in October. In her new role, Kiran will collaborate closely with investigators to collect, process, and analyze forensic evidence from crime scenes, playing a vital role in solving complex cases and supporting the justice system in the community served by the Lafayette Post.

This milestone marks a significant step forward for the Lafayette District, as Kiran brings a fresh and valuable perspective to the investigative team. Her hiring underscores the district’s commitment to evolving and strengthening its approach to public safety and forensic science.
