LAWRENCE COUNTY- The Lawrence County Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community. Established to promote philanthropy, the foundation manages charitable funds and grants that support education, health, youth programs, arts, and community development. It addresses key community needs through partnerships with donors, local nonprofits, and civic organizations while fostering long-term growth and sustainability. The foundation also provides scholarships to students, empowering the next generation to achieve their goals. By connecting generosity with impactful initiatives, the Lawrence County Community Foundation is a pillar for positive change and community-driven progress in the region.
Brandi Weyer’s first encounter with a community foundation was the Spencer County Community Foundation. When she worked as the Communications Director for the Lincoln Amphitheater, they applied for and received grants from the Community Foundation. As a result, she knew the Community Foundation as a granting organization but had no idea how it worked.
Upon beginning her career with Ad-Venture Media in Bedford in November 2014, Brandi became more involved with the Lawrence County Community Foundation. She began by giving what she could: “With the Community Foundation, it warmed my heart knowing my $30 per month investment, what I could afford at that time, would benefit many local nonprofits and help meet the community’s immediate and future needs.” The relationship eventually blossomed into Brandi serving on the Public Relations Committee and as a Board member for the foundation for the past two years.
Even though Brandi isn’t from Lawrence County and doesn’t live in Lawrence County, she still wants to support it as it is the community where she has built her career. The people and local business owners have welcomed her with open arms and trusted her to help market their businesses successfully. As a result, she wants to leave a lasting, positive impact on the community that has treated her so well.
Now the Director of Sales for Ad-Venture Media, Brandi said, “It’s my personality to not be just a survivor but a thriver. So, I created the Thrive On Community Fund. I want this community to thrive in the same way it helped me thrive. It warms my heart knowing this fund will grow in perpetuity and benefit a number of organizations, even organizations that have yet to be established.” The Thrive On Community Fund is an unrestricted fund. This means the Community Foundation Partnership Staff and Board of Directors will decide where its annual dividend distribution will go, making the fund flexible in how it is used to help build up Lawrence County.
