BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University (IU) is offering a free online course designed to teach individuals how to respond effectively to an opioid overdose. The Citizen Opioid Responders program, available online and at five IU campuses, aims to equip participants with the knowledge to recognize an opioid overdose and administer naloxone. This medication can reverse the effects of an overdose.
With opioid-related deaths continuing to rise both in Indiana and across the nation, IU is hoping the course will help reduce the number of fatalities.
The online course is available to anyone interested, and the program also provides free naloxone at IU campuses in Bloomington, Columbus, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Southeast, as well as in Monroe, Clark, Dearborn, and Floyd Counties.

By offering education and resources, IU hopes to empower more people to act in life-saving situations.
