Seymour conquers outnumbered BNL wrestlers

SEYMOUR – Seymour posted a 72-10 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during boys high school wrestling action on Thursday night.

The Stars recorded two wins on the mat. Wyatt Philpott pinned Rider Thompson in 43 seconds at 120 pounds, and Ethan Stancombe moved up a weight class to conquer Briley Compton 16-3 at 165.

The Owls had seven triumphs by pin and added five forfeit wins.

“It was another tough night,” BNL coach Mike Branam said. “But we continue to keep improving and moving in the right direction.”

In the girls match, the Stars competed in three matches. Macey Potoroff dropped two decisions (Mitchell’s Ella Roach by pin in 1:59 and Seymour’s Megan Stout by a 6-2 count) at 130, while Seymour’s Greydis Chub stopped Alivia Crane 10-2 at 145.

BNL’s boys will compete in the Bo Henry Invitational at Bloomington North on Saturday, while the girls will visit Madison on Saturday.
