BEDFORD — A Bedford man has been sentenced to prison after repeatedly failing to comply with the terms of his probation, according to a ruling by Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline.
On December 19, 2024, Judge Cline ordered Donald S. Harrison, 53, to serve 364 days in the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) after violating his probation conditions. Harrison had previously pleaded guilty to Operating a Motor Vehicle After Forfeiture of License for Life, a Level 5 felony, in January 2023. As part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana, he was initially sentenced to 1,460 days, with 1,383 days suspended, and ordered to serve 545 days on supervised probation.
However, Harrison’s probation was not without complications. After failing to meet the terms of his probation, Judge Cline modified Harrison’s sentence in August 2023, ordering him to serve 1,018 days in the IDOC with 365 days resuspended. He was also required to complete his probation upon release. Despite these second chances, Harrison again violated the terms of his probation, leading to his latest sentence.
In response to the continued violations, Judge Cline revoked Harrison’s probation and sentenced him to 364 days in prison, with credit for 13 days already served. Harrison’s probation was officially terminated as unsuccessful.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Pearcy commented on the case, saying, “Harrison was given several chances to prove that he could comply with probation; however, instead, he proved his non-compliance. Judge Cline’s sentence is fitting for Harrison’s original crimes and the subsequent probation violations.”
Harrison’s case highlights the serious consequences of failing to adhere to court-ordered probation terms, underscoring the commitment of Judge Cline to hold offenders accountable for repeated violations.
