Obituary: Diana ‘Pookie’ Lynn Sego

August 23, 1951 – December 17, 2024

Diana ‘Pookie’ Lynn Sego, 73, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

She was born in Bedford on August 23, 1951, to the late Gordon and Agnes Fish.

Diana was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a woman of deep Christian faith. She was an active member of Old Union Christian Church in Fayetteville, where she lived her faith through service to others. Diana was humble, grateful for each day, and always willing to lend a helping hand. She was the glue that held her family together, cherishing time spent with her loved ones and staying closely connected with her grandchildren.

Her love for sports was evident, whether cheering for her grandchildren at their games or following her favorite teams, the Indiana Hoosiers and Pacers. Diana also found joy in traveling to Gatlinburg, TN, South Haven, MI, Florida, and visiting her oldest son in Chicago whenever she could.

Diana is survived by her two sisters, Lana Wray and Linda Olson. Lana’s children include Melanie, Jeffrey, and Joshua, while Linda and her husband Larry’s daughters are Laura and Debbie.

The family also remembers with love those who have passed: Diana’s husband, Jerry Sego; Linda and Larry’s son, Brian Olson; and Lana’s husband, Joseph Wray.

Diana leaves behind five children and a stepson, all of whom were the pride of her life: Sean Benham, Mindy Hendrix Keltsch, James “JR” Stigall, John “Willie” Stigall, Jason Stigall, and Stan Sego; Sean and his wife Sonya reside in Chicago, IL, with their son Julian, Mindy resides in Indianapolis, and is the mother of three daughters: Krista Ewing and her wife Amanda, Chiara Keltsch, and Grace Hendrix; JR and his wife Michelle live in Bedford, and have four children: Bethany Montgomery and her husband Trevor, Skylar Brock and her partner MeKiah, Eli Stigall, and Phoenix Brant; Willie and his wife Kortney also reside in Bedford, and have one daughter, Stella Sims, who is married to Tyler; Jason and his wife Joni live in Bedford, and have two daughters, Carly and Bella; Stan and his wife Lisa reside in Bedford, and have two children, Kylie and Keregan.

Diana was also a proud great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Diana was cremated through Halo Cremations in Columbus, IN. A Celebration of Life will be held in 2025 to honor her memory and the lasting legacy of love and faith she leaves behind.
