BLOOMINGTON —Ivy Tech/The Mill announced that applications are open for a beginner-level course from Code/IT Academy. Code/IT is a 10-week upskilling program to help Hoosiers acquire in-demand tech skills and access higher-paying jobs. The Spring 2025 session prepares participants to pass the CompTIA IT Fundamentals Certification Exam. Code/IT is a partnership between The Mill in Monroe County, Regional Opportunity Initiatives (ROI), and Ivy Tech Bloomington.
“We’re excited to offer this class as the starting point for individuals who aren’t yet in a technology role but are looking to make their next move, possibly in the tech industry,” said Haley Pritchett, Program Manager of Code/IT Academy. “This course provides the foundational knowledge necessary to pursue advanced certifications that employers are actively seeking.”
Code/IT’s ten weeks of free training prepares individuals for certifications and jobs in web development, IT administration, CompTIA Security+, and Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner. Ivy Tech instructors teach three sessions of Code/IT a year on various in-demand topics.
This Spring, the classes will center around the first course in Code/IT’s Cybersecurity Specialist pathway, helping participants prepare for a basic computer and technology skills certification exam. Instruction will cover how computers work, troubleshooting problems, keeping devices safe, and using software and networks. Students often form study groups together to prepare for the exam, and the program covers the cost of the exam, including a second chance when needed.
“This is our first time offering the CompTIA IT Fundamentals Course,” said Victoria Crawley, Head of Operations at The Mill. “We’re excited to nurture the Upland Region’s tech community by empowering people to take what could be their first step into a successful IT career.”
Registration for CompTIA IT Fundamentals is open now and closes February 4, 2025. Classes start February 18 and meet twice a week in the evenings. More details and the application form are available at https://codeitacademy.dimensionmill.org/spring-2025-registration.
Code/IT Academy is funded through a $1.4 million READI grant.
