USPS to close post offices and suspend mail delivery in honor of Former President Jimmy Carter

INDIANA – In observance of the National Day of Observance to honor former President Jimmy Carter, the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced that post offices across Indiana and the rest of the country will be closed on Thursday, January 9, 2025. There will be no mail deliveries on this day.

The USPS communicated through its official website that all regular mail deliveries, retail services, and administrative office activities will be suspended in observance of the occasion. However, the Postal Service will continue to process and accept mail volume from commercial mailers at mail processing centers.

While most operations will be halted, limited package delivery services will take place to ensure that business mail is not disrupted. This prevents any negative impact on customers or business partners relying on timely delivery.

All USPS facilities, including the headquarters in Washington, D.C., and area and district administrative offices, will remain closed.

Regular postal operations will resume on Friday, January 10, 2025.
