BLOOMINGTON- On January 9, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Bloomington Police Department officers responded to the 1000 block of North Summit Street about a shooting report. Officers arrived on scene and located a 48-year-old man lying outside near the front of a residence with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers assisted with loading the man into an ambulance and the man was transported to a local hospital. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and the man was declared deceased at 11:08 p.m.
Investigators located and interviewed several witnesses, as well as the suspected shooter. Numerous items were collected as evidence, including the handgun believed to have been used in the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and all persons involved have been identified. It is believed that those involved knew one another, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
