According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Mitchell Police Officer Garrett Jacobs, the situation unfolded when a female arrived at the residence and witnessed Roberts slamming a door on another woman’s foot. She immediately contacted authorities, prompting an investigation.

Anderson, the victim, told police that Roberts had been yelling and cussing at everyone in the house, and the incident with the door occurred when she was standing in the doorway of Roberts’ room. Anderson also reported that Roberts had threatened to burn down the house the night before, on Sunday, January 5. She expressed fear for her safety, claiming Roberts had a history of domestic violence.

While Anderson’s foot showed no visible marks from the door, she declined medical evaluation but confirmed she wanted to press charges. In addition to the domestic battery charge, Roberts faces a communication intimidation charge related to his previous threats.

Officer Jacobs conducted a domestic violence lethality screen and gathered information for a domestic discovery evidence checklist. Officer Jacobs requested a warrant for Roberts’ arrest based on the victim’s and witnesses’ statements.

Roberts was arrested on Thursday, January 9th, on charges of domestic battery with prior unrelated convictions and communication intimidation.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
