Surveillance footage from the motel showed a man matching witness descriptions entering Room 104 shortly after the incident. After obtaining a search warrant, Bedford Police SWAT team members took Wisnewski into custody without incident shortly before midnight.

During a search of the motel room, officers discovered a Taurus G3c handgun with ammunition matching the casings found in the alley, according to the probable cause affidavit. Police noted that a child was present in the room at the time, leading to involvement from the Lawrence County Department of Child Services.

Wisnewski faces multiple charges including:

  • Criminal recklessness with a firearm, a Level 6 felony
  • Unlawful carrying of a handgun, a Level 5 felony
  • Neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony
  • Possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, a Class A misdemeanor

Police records indicate Wisnewski has prior convictions in Illinois for domestic battery and burglary.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
