Avilla man arrested on drug charges following traffic stop

NOBLE CO. – A report of a reckless driver on State Road 3 near Avilla led to the arrest of an Avilla man on drug charges on February 11, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m.

An Indiana State Police trooper stopped a vehicle matching the description provided to dispatch. Following a brief investigation, the driver, identified as Kyle Baker, 41, of Avilla, was suspected to be intoxicated. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Baker was arrested and booked into the Noble County Jail. He faces charges of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony, possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony, dealing a Schedule I, II, or III controlled substance, a Level 6 felony, and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in his body, a Class C misdemeanor.

The Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the Kendallville Police Department and the Ligonier Police Department.
