Quick response prevents disaster at Loogootee house fire

LOOGOOTEE – Emergency crews responded swiftly to a fire at a residence on Private Road 1215 East in Loogootee on Wednesday afternoon, averting a potentially catastrophic situation.

The fire was reported at 2:33 p.m., and it had a particularly urgent element: it was dangerously close to propane tanks, coming within a mere three feet. Multiple fire departments, including Cannelburg, Odon, and Madison, were dispatched to the scene, and medical personnel were placed on standby.

Firefighters acted quickly and efficiently, successfully containing and extinguishing the flames by 2:45 p.m. During the incident, one male sustained burns to his legs and required medical treatment.

The scene was cleared shortly after 3:00 p.m., with the rapid response of emergency services preventing further damage and potential disaster.
