Details released on escaped Jackson County inmate, now in custody

SALEM- Just after 2 p.m. Thursday, the individual who walked away from an Indiana Department of Correction work crew in Vallonia was taken into custody in Salem.

Michael Anderson, 21, was located by officers with the Salem Police Department during a traffic stop. During the stop, Anderson ran from officers but was quickly captured.

This case is still under investigation. Anderson is in DOC custody. He could face additional charges, including escape, resisting law enforcement, and theft.

Indiana DOC is grateful for the help of multiple law enforcement agencies who assisted in the search and capture of Anderson.
