PAOLI—The Orange County Historical Society (OCHS) recently hosted author Randy Mills at its March meeting.
Mills presented insights from his new book, “As if by Magic: the story of Larry Bird’s Indiana High School Basketball Days.” The event, held at the Paoli Library, drew a crowd eager to learn more about the basketball legend’s early days.

Mills’s book delves into Larry Bird’s formative years playing high school basketball in Indiana, offering a unique perspective on the development of a player who would later become a national icon. Before his presentation, Mills signed a book, allowing attendees to purchase and personalize their copies.
The OCHS, which typically meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Paoli Library, provides a platform for historical discussions and presentations, connecting the community with its rich past. Mills’s presentation added a unique sports history element to their regular programming.
